Welcome — I’m Tracy

I’m an astrologer who wants your life to feel better.

I write about real life: timing, choices, desire, self-worth… and why certain patterns keep looping until we finally see them clearly.

Astrology is about understanding the energy you’re working with so you stop fighting yourself. Take what resonates. Leave the rest.

And if something hits a little too close to home — good. That’s where the shift starts.

Grab a coffee, and let’s translate the sky.

Do I Need My Birth Time for an Astrology Reading?

September 23, 20253 min read

Short answer: yes and no.

Your birth time is a key puzzle piece in your astrology chart. Without it, we can still learn a lot about your personality, your planetary placements, and what drives you. We can also see which parts of you are being supported or challenged during current planetary movements.

But the birth time anchors your chart into the world. It sets the Ascendant (your rising sign), determines the house cusps (which areas of life the planets influence), and fine-tunes predictive work like transits, progressions, and other timing techniques.

What We Can Do Without a Birth Time

If you don’t know your birth time, don’t panic. An astrology reading without birth time can still reveal plenty:

  • Sun, Moon, and planetary placements

  • Aspects between planets

  • Elemental and modality balance (how much fire, earth, air, water)

  • Major themes and personal cycles

This kind of chart is often called a solar chart, and while it doesn’t show exact houses or angles, it’s still very insightful.

When Someone Doesn’t Have a Birth Time

If you come to me without a birth time, I’ll often ask you to narrow it down to a general time of day (morning, afternoon, evening). From there, I use dowsing to arrive at a specific time. I treat the chart created from that time as holding important messages meant for you.

Another option is rectification astrology - a formal process some astrologers use to work backwards from life events to approximate a birth time. I don’t personally offer rectification, but I can point you toward resources if you want to explore that route.

Why Birth Time Matters

Your exact birth time tells us:

  • Your Rising Sign (the lens you meet the world through)

  • Your Houses (which life areas the planets activate — love, career, home, etc.)

  • Precise Moon placement (since the Moon moves quickly, its sign or degree can shift within a day)

  • Access to advanced Timing tools like solar returns, profections and progressions

So if your question is very specific — like “What kind of career would I do best in?” or “When will I meet a partner?” — getting as close as possible to your birth time makes a difference.

How to Find Your Birth Time in Canada

Good news if you’re Canadian: in many provinces, you can order a long-form birth certificate that includes your time of birth.

  • Contact your provincial registry office (ex: Alberta Registries, ServiceOntario, Vital Statistics in BC).

  • Not every province kept time records, but if yours did, it’s the most reliable way to get it.

  • Tip: hospitals sometimes keep records, but provincial registries are usually the first stop.

The Bottom Line

You don’t have to know your exact birth time to have a meaningful reading. We can still unlock valuable insights without it, and if you’re open to it, I can dowse for a working time that always brings powerful clarity.

But if you’re able to track down your recorded time, your reading will be sharper and more personal — especially when it comes to predictive techniques and timing. Either way, there’s a chart waiting to tell your story.

And honestly? I love working with both. Sometimes “time unknown” charts reveal just as much magic — it’s just a different kind of story.
